"And then you see the underbelly of it, and how sex pressures these kids from all angles. "It was depicting this Disneyland for teenagers where you can leave your parents and party, and the first half is meant to be really joyous and fun and you get this sort of freeing experience, where you're free for once," she told ABC RN's The Screen Show. Manning Walker deliberately focused the action on the clubs and party scene of the island, rather than on the surrounding areas. "We tried to, props-wise, influence them, and put it in the background of the shot as well, because it feels like even the environment has a pressure on them." "In the film we tried to get all this tourist stuff that's got naked women on it - lighters, towels," Manning Walker explains. Sex, and the pressure to have it, is ubiquitous here, and not just from the teenagers. "There was always a chat about 'who's gonna get with who' or like 'how many people you've got with'." "It came from within our friendship group, or from ourselves, like, 'Oh, this is what we're meant to do,'" she says. Manning Walker says that kind of narrative was everywhere when she went on holiday with friends when she was younger. Sixteen-year-old Tara is a virgin, and much less experienced than her two besties - and her friends don't let her forget it. The result is a vividly nuanced exploration of sex told through the eyes of three teenage girls - best friends Tara (Mia McKenna-Bruce), Skye (Lara Peake) and Em (Enva Lewis) - who fly to a Greek party island to celebrate the end of their high school exams. "Whenever you do talk about it, it sort of sucks the air out of a room. very different to this story, but it's something I have always wanted to talk about very openly," Manning Walker says. "I was assaulted when I was 16 in a nightclub.
